Q. Difficult in starting ?
- No Diesel in fuel tank - Fill the fuel tank with Diesel.
- Water in fuel - Drain fuel tank & fill water-free Diesel.
- Leakage through fuel tank cock - Tighten or replace if necessary.
- Air in fuel pipe - Bleed air from fuel pipe line.
Q. Engine starts but fires intermittently ?
- Faulty fuel supply - Tighten all connections & bleed air from fuel pipe.
- Water in fuel - Drain fuel tank & fill water-free diesel. Broken fuel pipe - Replace pipe.
- Air in fuel pipe - Bleed air from fuel pipe line.
- Disturbed tappet clearance - Set tappet clearance inlet 0.203 mm Exhaust 0.254 mm.
Q. Excess or high fuel consumption ?
- Leakage through fuel pipe joints - Tighten fuel pipe joints, replace washer if necessary.
- Broken fuel pipe - Replace pipe.
- Fuel injector element choked / holes blocked - Service it from MICO service station. otherwise replace.
- Poor compression due to worn out valve seats of cylinder head - Lap cylinder head valve seat & valve together.
- Poor compression due to worn out piston rings - Replace compression rings.
- Worn out CR or main bearing or both - Replace bearing.
Q. Engine does not take load ?
- Fuel injector element choked / holes blocked - Service it from MICO service station otherwise replace.
- Poor compression due to worn out valve seats of cylinder head - Lap cylinder head valve seat & valve together.
- Poor compression due to worn out piston rings - Replace compression rings.
- Chocked air cleaner - Clean wire mesh of air cleaner with diesel.
- Lubricating oil seal worn out - Replace oil seal.
Q. Over heating ?
- Engine is overloaded - Avoid overloading.
- Chocked water passage - Clean water passage of cylinder head & block.
- Excess lubricating oil in crank case - Pour lub. oil to max. mark of dipstick only.
- Lubricating oil seal worn out - Replace oil seal.
- Lubricating oil gasket torn - Replace gasket.
- Lubricating oil threaded joints loose - Tighten threaded joints.
Q. Excess lubricating oil consumption ?
- Worn out CR or main bearing or both - Replace bearing.
- Centrifugal pump coupled with engine is jammed - Repair the pump.
- Engine is overloaded - Avoid overloading.
- Chocked water passage - Clean water passage of cylinder head & block.
- Improper grade of lubricating oil - Replace with correct grade of lubricating oil.
- Lubricating oil seal worn out - Replace oil seal.
- Lubricating oil gasket torn - Replace gasket.
Q. Fast wear & tear of components ?
- Diesel Lub oil mixing through fuel pump - Service it from MICO service station otherwise replace.
- Engine is overloaded - Avoid overloading.
- Chocked water passage - Clean water passage of cylinder head & block.
- Inadequate lubricating oil in crankcase - Pour lub oil to max. mark of dipstick.
- Improper grade of lubricating oil - Replace with correct grade of lubricating oil.
- Lubricating oil seal worn out - Replace oil seal. Lubricating oil gasket torn - Replace gasket.
Q. Over speeding ?
- Speeder spring / Governor spring has lost its tension - Change the spring.
- Improper lubrication of governor linkage / fuel pump rack - Lubricate both by lubricating oil.
